Acne suffers are often a target of scammers online and elsewhere everywhere there are advertisements and promises of the miracle treatment that will make your acne disappear. Somewhere along with all of these signs and promises should be a flashing neon sign that says “Buyer Beware”. Acne is as old as mankind itself it and will likely continue to be around for many more centuries and in the meantime someone will continue to profit off of another’s suffering. Before you go out and spend a fortune why not try a few old fashioned home remedies for acne.

What Did Grandma Do About Acne?

We have all heard the stories from our grandparents and how they managed without all of these fancy gadgets and while sometimes we tend to just laugh off their stories it might serve us all well to listen. Grandma didn’t have all the department store brands when she suffered from acne so what did she really do about an unexpected or poorly timed breakout? Grandma used her own home remedy for acne and it worked very well for her, you might just want to ask her exactly what she used and try it for yourself.

Grandma would rub toothpaste on the affected area and generally by morning it would be either greatly reduced or just plain gone. This home remedy for acne is used mainly for sporadic breakouts and does cause a minor burning sensation but it does work well. Remember to always rinse your face to get rid of any residue.

For larger or more regular breakouts Grandma still has the best remedy under the sun that is cheaper than anything you can buy in any store. Mix vinegar and cornstarch together until you have a paste like compound, put it on the affected area for thirty minutes and rinse completely. This home remedy for acne not only helps to remove blackheads but it cleanses the pores and draws out excess oils therefore not only helping to heal the acne you have but prevent further breakouts as well.

This will likely cause a tingling sensation and can be very irritating to eyes, nose and other sensitive areas but is very effective. It is recommended to do this two to three times a week, if your skin becomes too dry reduce the treatments to no more than twice a week. As time goes by and your skin improves you can reduce to this once a week simply to maintain your healthy skin.

Sometimes the best products can’t be bought in stores and in this case the best product are your own home remedies for acne. They cost less and often work better than any expensive product on the market.
