Cystic Acne Treatment: What you Need to Know
By Wendy Simons
There are many different types of acne, and cystic acne is one of these types; if you have cystic acne, then of course you want to find a cystic acne treatment, and so you should read on to find out the best methods that are available in regards to cystic acne treatment.
What Forms of Cystic Acne Treatment are There?
There are actually a few different forms of cystic acne treatment that are available today, and so if you suffer from this type of acne, then you should know that you should not feel alone and that there are things that you can do in regards to cystic acne treatment.
People with nodules or cysts should be immediately treated by a dermatologist, and for those patients with severe inflammatory acne, a doctor may prescribe a type of medication in order to help with this. For example, one of the most recommended forms of medication is Isotretinoin, and there are both negative and positive side effects of this drug.
In regards to the positive aspects of this drug, it is considered as being a very effective medicine that can help to prevent scarring from the acne, and after about 15 to 20 weeks of treatment with this product, the acne either completely or almost completely goes away in up to 90% of patients involved.
In regards to the disadvantages of this medication, it can cause birth defects in the developing fetus of a pregnant woman, and it is also important that women of childbearing age are not pregnant and that they also do not get pregnant while taking this medicine. Because of this, it is recommended that women taking this medication use at least two forms of birth control, at least for a period of at least a month before the treatment begins, and during the entire course of the treatment as well.
It should also be known that some people with acne may notice that they are becoming more depressed by the changes in the appearance of their skin, and this is why changes in mental health may actually be intensified, and a doctor should be immediately consulted if a person feels unusually sad or if they have other problems or symptoms of depression or anything of the sort; you want to make sure that you do not cause any unnecessary harm to yourself after all.
